The Lenovo S10-3 is a great improvement over the S10-2 in the design and the functionality of the keyboard. The built-in quick start function and great Veriface software strike in high tones for you software is built. Unfortunately, the S10-3 is the central area, in falls short, the touchpad.
Because the buttons and touch pad are part of a combined unit the usable area of the touch pad is even smaller than expected. You use the NetBook with a mouse, this is not a problem, but I think that most users probably use not mice with
their Netbooks. I think the small touchpad is priced at $350 the S10-3 back of size in the middle range NetBook market price. I would consider other options before setting your sites on this NetBook, unless you want to use the touchpad only rarely.Fast product specifications:
Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive, Windows 7 Starter.
Design:
The NetBook is only 1 inch thick, but close to the back of the unit, the 6-cell battery adds a little more height to the unit (nothing more than a typical battery bulge though). Above on the unit, an eye chess board design, the fingerprint proof shows please. See inside the NetBook we a brushed style which adds to the overall pleasing aesthetics of the unit. The island style keyboard looks beautiful and I will be, how great it is in a later part of the review, but here we get our first look on my major complaint about the NetBook – it has touchpad.
Usability:
The Lenovo S10-3 is one of the best NetBook keyboards that I put on my hands. Lenovo develops a new Island-style chiclet keyboard that caused incorrect keys edges on the sides of the key to it easier to prevent that finger touch as you type. This keyboard is solid on a 10-inch NetBook in full size by 98% come. It just looks and feels amazing, it is a pity that this great keyboard comes at a price – small touchpad. The total usable space on the touch pad is 2.75 cm width 1 inch high.
Clearly, the width is not a problem, but in this case, the amount is. I didn’t measure, that instead to the physical size of TouchPads based I measured based on, where the touchpad stopped responding to my fingers (the right is where are the points on the touchpad). Is so, why are we with this plug small touchpad. I would like to really the touchpad was only 3 inches taller (1.5 inch is what has the Sony VAIO W), but unfortunately it isn’t. Use this NetBook with a mouse, everything is amazing, because then you will have to worry about the touchpad not but you are still a huge wonderful keyboard.
The NetBook beschuppt the new Splashtop 2.0, which allows you to customize the experience that you get using the quick start function. Quick start to boot to a separate OS in less than 10 seconds on e-Mail, Skype, Pandora, CNN and other various applications which you can change out. Back is Lenovo Veriface software, which allows log you back your computer to your face.
Battery life:
The Lenovo S10-3 is a 6-cell battery, making the NetBook I kind provides average battery life of 7 hours that am, search based on easy approve / blogging. I would like to see a battery life that comes into the double digits such as so many models offered by ASUS (i.e. 1005ha-m) at that price, but it is still a good number.
Overall performance:
Overall, I think the Lenovo S10-3 is a few things wonderful for $350: the keyboard design (with the exception of the touchpad), built in the software and solid build quality. If you are planning the NetBook frequently use with a mouse then you will love this NetBook. If then I suggest you do not plan to use a mouse look at other alternatives first.
Pros:
Great design, great keyboard (98% full size) containing excellent software
Cons:
Small touchpad
