Good-bye Adamo, Hello XPS 15Z

Many of us perhaps remember seeing the name Adamo; yes that was Dell’s laptop computer that seemed to be doomed the minute it was released despite the fact that it was trendy and quite expensive. Just a little over two years after Adamo’s release, Dell was prepared to announce their next hot product and that’s theXPS 15Z, which was released on May 24, 2011 at $999.00. It is more than obvious that indeed it is an Adamo follow up however they made sure it wasn’t too trendy in order to appeal more
to the Dell followers.
The XPS will have a less smooth and professional look and it will weigh more than the Adamo. The screen measures 15 inches and features a 1.3 megapixel HD camera with dual array digital microphones. The laptop comes equipped with Intel Dual Core processor which will be available in 2.9 GHz and 3.4 GHz with a powerful 750 GB hard drive. One thing that is yet to be proven is the fact that Dell has announced that the battery life should extend up to 8 hours which is more than what the Adamo would last.
In points of connectivity the XPX 15Z features Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 802.11 agn, HDMI 1.4 port, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and 9-in-1 media card reader(SD, SDIO, SDXC, SDHC, MS, MS Pro, MMC, MSXC, xD).

Many people perhaps remember that when Dell first started it practically changed the way laptop business was run. Michael Dell started selling computers from his dorm room and later founded what today is known as Dell Computer Corporation. Dell was able to offer cheaper computers because they used no intermediaries; they would take the order directly from the customer and proceed to ship them after the order had been completed.
With the release of the Adamo there was a lot of confusion and the perception that the people had about Dell began to change. They proceeded to hold meetings where they decided that it had been practically a mistake to release the product and there where confusing their loyal customers.
A few years ago Dell saw the need of a change in order to appeal to a wider variety of customers and that’s how they came up with the Studio line, AlienwareInspironAdamo and XPS.
As time went by and as Adamo terribly failed its market test, Dell made the correct decision of studying their products and the demands that the customer had. That’s how they decided to cut off Studio and Adamo and kept the remaining three. Alienware is made specifically for heavy gamers, Inspiron is the inexpensive one that looks to appeal to families, and XPS is for those who want to stay in style but with a high quality laptop.
Dell realized that Adamo was too expensive for what it really offered ($1,999.00) and it went against what Dell really means to its customers. Although now it’s gone, they have kept the important things that they learned while building it.
The XPS 15Z goes back to Dell’s roots, providing the customer an inexpensive product that remains trendy and with a great design. Even though they stumbled and fell, Dell was able to get up and learn from their mistake.
