The HP Envy 14 Spectre is pretty bulky

HP has unveiled the HP Envy 14 Spectre Ultrabook, which is the latest addition to the growing number of Intel Ultrabooks launched here at CES 2012.

Hours after Intel's Ultrabook press conference, which promised touchscreen portables, and tablet hybrids, we saw the HP Spectre - a more traditional laptop, which is aimed at bringing Ultrabooks to style-conscious media consumers.

At 14-inches it's slightly bigger than most Ultrabooks making it great for watching movies or viewing pictures, but it features a super-thin bezel, which doesn't add any bulk.

The panel itself is a stunningly bright 1,600x900 Super-TFT, making it a better laptop for

The first-generation ultrabook war is getting bloody, with the Toshiba Satellite Z830 and Lenovo Ideapad U300S emerging from the pits to take on the Asus Zenbook and this machine, the Acer Aspire S Series. This four-way battle royale should be a fierce contest, but can Acer do enough to beat down the super-thin-yet-powerful laptop competition?

The Taiwanese company certainly has experience producing every variety of laptop, from the ultra-portable Timeline range of models such as the Acer Aspire Timeline X 3820TZ to the mighty Ethos multimedia machines including the Acer Aspire Ethos 5943G.

One of its dinkiest offerings yet, the 13.3-inch Acer Aspire S3-951 is an appealing prospect

The Samsung RF511 is a mid-range laptop which offers solid yet unspectacular performance, at a less than inspiring price. With so many great laptop bargains on the market this year boasting new Intel chips, we reckon that Samsung has missed the mark with this middle-of-the-road outing.

With its muted grey metal trim around the keyboard and austere black-on-silver keys, the kind of room which would suit Samsung's RF511 will have black leather couches and smoked glass tables. It's a world away from the designer minimalism of something like the

Beside its 17.3 inch 1600x900 TFT display and blue-ray drive, Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7226 is generally one perfect example of how even a great laptop manufacturer like Toshiba could make a very disappointing product.

This L775D-S7226 is advertised as having dedicated M series Radeon GPU. Actually it is only using lowly G-series integrated graphics.

Actually, it is a beautiful laptop indeed. It’s brushed dark blue finish is really nice and thermally cold to the touch. Well, I love the feel of cold aluminum, but don’t know about you. Unfortunately, the finish attract lots of fingerprints and dust. You’ll definitely face problems with them unless you are using this laptop in a dust-free environment.

Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7226 is using a quad-core processor. But seems like this laptop

This 13.3-inch entertainment laptop is perfect for staving off boredom on the move. The Satellite L730-10G lacks graphical punch, but the compact display is a highlight, while the lightweight body and decent battery life ensure you'll be entertained wherever you roam.

Despite its smaller screen, the Satellite L730-10G still features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. The result is a much sharper picture, so images look crisp and clean. It's also a bright and vibrant panel, making this one of the best displays for movie watching.

We enjoyed simply browsing our photo collection and watching films, although the integrated speakers are lacking in power. We recommend you invest in some decent headphones
